Design is a
constantly changing field. We believe in research as the basis
for action. Of course this refers to traditional theoretical
research education in the fields of material and building science,
sustainability, and behavioral science, but most important to us
is empirical research. Working with our hands to create
prototypes and study models allows us to actively engage clients
and builders in developing highly specific, highly appropriate
solutions to the design brief under consideration. Working with
our imagination to speculate on global issues allows us to step
outside the boundaries of conventional thinking, bring new
influences into our profession, and make random connections that
keep the Studio fresh.
