United Church of Christ
The Columbine Unity Church was conceived
as an agrarian structure surrounded by lush
gardens. The Sanctuary is sited to take advantage of the Rocky
Mountains and consists of a
heavy timber framework. The entry tower becomes the origin of
concentric circles, which the
visitors move between as they ripple through the site. The Sanctuary
and Fellowship hall act
as open arms to welcome and greet the congregation. The program
includes a library, youth
fellowship, meditation + counseling rooms and a sunken terrace. The
parking field consists
mainly of gravel and recycled asphalt, which increases the ground
porosity. Team Member with Live Arts Studio, rendering by Doug Price.
